”Cette proposition originale puise une partie de son vocabulaire artistique dans la relation entre corps et marionnette que j'explore depuis de nombreuses années. A travers cette confrontation physique avec la marionnette, une sorte de corps-à-corps, je souhaite aborder les thèmes de l'exil, du déplacement, et explorer la possibilité d'aider l'autre, de le soutenir et de l'accompagner. La marionnette comme un frère ou une sœur. Le mannequin devient le lieu d'une séparation, d'un dédoublement où nous nous détachons de nous-mêmes, le lieu du soin et de l'attention. Le poème et la voix du narrateur se font écho dans l'interaction entre l'homme et la marionnette, sur le seuil le l'inanimé et de l'animé. Le mannequin incarne l'ombre, le spectre d'un ailleurs abandonné avec ses lieux, ses gens, ses saveurs, ses histoires. Ce fantôme en chair et en os offre quelque chose à quoi se raccrocher et qui nous aide à nous orienter au milieu d'une lignée soudainement brisée. Une discontinuité, une rupture avec ce qui nous a appartenu. Dans l'ombre de notre appartenance.” Renaud Herbin

“This original proposal draws part of its artistic vocabulary from the relationship between body and puppet that I have been exploring for many years. Through this physical confrontation with the puppet, a corps-a-corps of sorts, I would like to approach themes of exile, of displacement, and explore the possibility of helping the other, supporting and accompanying them. The puppet as a sibling. The mannequin becomes the site of a separation, a duplication where we detach from ourselves and, in the same movement, from the care and attention that defines the self whilst imbuing it with life. The poem and the narrator’s voice are echoed in the interaction between human and puppet, at the threshold between inanimate and animate. The mannequin embodies the shadow, the specter of an abandoned elsewhere with its places, its people, its flavors, its stories – all things that give cultures their wealth in texture. This phantom in the flesh offers something to hold on to and help orient ourselves amidst a suddenly broken lineage. A discontinuity, a break from what once belonged to us. In the shadow of our belonging.”
